What is a Baguette

Baguette

A baguette is a gemstone which has been cut into a long narrow rectangular shape similar to that of a loaf of French bread, from which it draws its name. Jewelers often use small diamonds cut this way as accents for rings and necklaces. The stones have a step cut in the shape of a small rectangular stone and they be may tapered on one end.

The term can also be used to refer to a ladies style watch which has a thin, elongated rectangular or oval face. The shape is distinguishable by its much greater length than width.
