The Emmons Jewelry company was founded in 1949 by Charles H. Stuart, also the founder of the sister company Sarah Coventry. The Emmons line was created to honor his wife - Caroline Emmons Stuart. The jewelry was sold by the home party plan. Early directors were men, but women representatives were more popular after the mid 1950s.

The designs were well made, good looking and easy on the pocket book. Often a design was made in matching pieces - brooches, earrings, necklaces, rings and bracelets. Full parures are much harder to find now than single pieces.

Value of the pieces today - Only purchase Emmons designs in mint condition.

Emmons jewelry is easily found today, but seems to me to have a higher value than the Sarah Coventry pieces do. There is no need to purchase pieces with damage. Although some reference book have high values for retail prices, the pieces are relatively easy to find now. Choose those that you like, and choose pieces in good condition.

Design Mark - There have been various marks used for Emmons jewelry. The early Design Mark in 1949 was EmJ, and the later one after 1955 was Emmons.
